Household Tips
- Check air pressure in tires for better gas mileage.
- Clean or replace heating filters
- Oil air conditioner blower fan.
- Clean filter of any window unit air conditioner.
- Place a solid room deodorizer in return air vents to freshen air throughout the house.
- To remove oil spots on driveway - saturate spot with paint thinner and before it evaporates cover with kitty litter, corn meal, sawdust or any other absorbent material. Sweep away the next day.
- Sprinkle a cutting board with salt, then rub with a lemon wedge to remove stains.
- Fertilize houseplants with Sure Bloom.
Lawn and Garden Tips
- Apply Hummert Long lasting Dyna Green Fertilizer if not done in May or if Tobin Lawn doesn't do it for you :(. For weeds apply Gordon's Speedzone and add Spreader Sticker or Bonide Weed Beater Ultra (already has Spreader Sticker)
- Apply Merit for White Grubs till July 15
- Watch for bagworms feeding on many garden plants, but especially Juniper and Arborvitae. If needed spray with Dipel or Thuricide.
- As soon as cucumber and squash vines start to run, begin spray treatments with liquid Eight to control cucumber beetles and squash vine borers.
- Stop harvesting asparagus when the spears become thin.
- Thinning overloaded fruit trees will result in larger and healthier fruits at harvest time. Thinned fruits should be a hands-width apart.
- Water turf as needed to prevent drought stress.
- Treat pill bugs (roly poly) and sow bugs outside with Triazicide.
- Continue to treat roses with Bayer All-In-One Rose and Flower Care every 4 to 6 weeks.
